This antique shell cameo brooch is a real showpiece, its finely carved scene appears to depict Cupid and Psyche within a warm gilt rope twist frame. The carving has wonderful depth and movement for a piece of this age, and it wears beautifully as a statement brooch. Lovely relief and detail on this one

The brooch shows an old soldering repair to the hinge which is now secure and functions well, along with light wear to the gilding consistent with age. The shell carving itself remains crisp and undamaged throughout. A couple of flakes on the back.
